Health officials in California have reported that valley fever is afflicting more people throughout the US and drought conditions are helping spread the illness, which is can be fatal.

Incidents of valley fever have dramatically increased in 2010 and 2011. Dust from dry conditions throughout the United States, Mexico and South America is laden with spores of the disease and is spread by wind and movement from other causes.
